MotherSarah Edmiston b. 30 Jul 1790, d. 23 Dec 1868
BirthCircacirca 1814 Eliza Beattie was probably born circa 1814.
Marriage17 Oct 1838 She married Cyrenius Wait on 17 Oct 1838 in Pulaski County, Kentucky.3,4
Eliza's exact year of death is not known, however Cyrenius appears to have remarried by 1843. In 1850 Cyrenius and Eliza's son, Daniel Webster Beattie, was enumerated with Cyrenius and his second wife, Mary Jane Newell. Mary Jane's sister Hettie Newell married Eliza's brother Robert, and Mary Jane's brother Henry Clay Newell married Eliza's sister Florence. In addition, Mary Jane Newell's mother was one Margaret "Peggy" Beaty, although of a different Beattie family than Eliza.5
Cyrenius died in 1868, however Daniel continued to live with his stepmother and half siblings. In 1870, at age 28, he was enumerated in Mary Jane's household. They resided in the Somerset district of Pulaski County; Daniel (enumerated as Webster) listed his occupation as "farmer".6
Eliza's father died in 1861. In 1863 his land was surveyed and divided among his heirs. Daniel Webster Wait received a share equal to that of Eliza's siblings.7
I have not located Daniel after 1870. A letter written in 1937 by a granddaughter of Cyrenius and Mary Jane stated that Webster died in his teens. Although that does not appear to be accurate, it is likely he died as a young man.8
