BirthCircacirca 1822 Campbell Beattie was born in Kentucky circa 1822.1
Cens-185030 Sep 1850  In 1850 Campbell was enumerated living with his parents and several siblings in Pulaski County, Kentucky. He was employed as a coal trader.1
10 Sep 1861  Campbell may have died after 1850 and before his father's death in 1861. If so he does not appear to have left heirs. He did not participate in the divsion of his father's land in 1863. Also, an inventory of John's estate, taken shortly after his death, included a note to D.S. Clark by Campbell Beatie for $29 due June 7th 1847. Since the note appears to have been uncollected it would have reverted to the estate of Campbell's father if Campbell died without heirs.2

Research Comment:

Campbell's parents John Beattie and Sarah Edmiston are buried at Pisgah Cemetery in Pulaski County. The cemetery also has a stone for a David Beattie with the dates Jan. 21, 1820 and Aug. 20, 1852. The middle initial has been reported to read "G" but the photo on Find-A-Grave was taken on a slant and it is possible the middle initial was a fancy "C". If that is the case perhaps this stone is for Campbell Beattie.
