Marriage He married Nettie Victoria Anderson.2 
  Festus and Nettie also lived in the Abingdon district of the county where Festus [enumerated by his middle name "Sellie"] worked as a carpenter. The couple had 5 children: Festus Palmer, Marvin Oliver, Mary Virginia, Imogene Nerine and Oscar Eugene. Oscar died at the age of 3 or 4 when an epidemic settled in the area. Festus Sr. died in the same epidemic. Family members are not clear if they died from scarlet fever or diphtheria.3,2
