Deathbefore 14 Jul 1817 Samuel died before 14 Jul 1817 as Samuel Davis Sr. posted bond to administor the estate of Samuel Davis Jr. in Madison County (Mississippi Territory) on that date.4 
  Samuel apparently died as the result of injury or illness as the settlement of his estate included a memorandum that Samuel Davis Sr. sold one of Samuel Jr.'s guns for $20 after his death to pay the doctor for his attendance and medicine.5 
Probate Recd29 Nov 1817 Samuel's personal estate was sold on 29 Nov 1817 in Madison County, Alabama. A variety of items were sold, including a sword, several horses, and a saddle and hogs.6 
  At the time of his death Samuel was owed money by the United States. Settlement records list a payment of $283.37 from the "U. States" as well as $30 received from "paymaster."7 

Research Comment:

Records suggest Samuel fought in the War of 1812; further research is required.
