Birth12 Oct 1845 Samuel McCall was born on 12 Oct 1845 in Washington County, Virginia.3,1 
Military  Samuel was a member of company D of the 1st Virginia Cavalry during the Civil War. He enlisted as a private on March 15th 1864 and served until the surrender at Appomattox Court House.4 
Marriage24 Jan 1867 He married Rosannah E. Larimer, daughter of William Larimer and Phebe Dryden Wilson, on 24 Jan 1867 in Washington County.1 
  Rosannah's name is entered as such on the couple's marriage record. It is also the spelling recorded for her as a child in her father's household in 1850 and 1860. However, her cemetery stone spells it Ruaner and her son Conley's death record refers to her as Irene. 
Cens-187021 Sep 1870 In 1870 the couple were recorded living in Glade Spring township in Washington County. Two children were enumerated with them: Phoebe (2) and Sarah (4 months). Rosannah's name on this census was spelled "Rosenah."5 
Cens-188029 Jun 1880 By 1880 the location was recorded as the Abingdon district. Five children were recorded this year: "Phebe", Sarah, Horace, "Connelly" and Pocahontas.6 
  In addition, a son William was born in 1871 and died in 1872. Samuel and Rosannah may have also had an additional son in 1882. The same marker that bears the inscription "S & RE McCall" in Rock Spring Cemetery also carries the name Charles S. McCall, 30 Oct. 1882-6 Jan. 1911.7 
Widowed1 Jul 1890  Samuel was widowed when Rosannah died on 1 Jul 1890. 
Marriage13 Apr 1897 He married second Mary E. Richards on 13 Apr 1897 in Washington County, Virginia.8 
Cens-191020 Apr 1910  Samuel and Mary did not have children. By 1910 they lived on their own in Abingdon, where Samuel, at age 65, worked as a laborer at a livery stable.9 
Death9 Mar 1924 Samuel died on 9 Mar 1924 at age 78.3 
Burial He was buried at Rock Spring Cemetery in Washington County, Virginia.3
