Birth25 Apr 1836 Jane Sharp Caldwell was born on 25 Apr 1836 in Washington County, Virginia.3,1
Marriage13 Dec 1860 She married William Buchanan Edmondson, son of John Lowry Glenn Edmondson and Margaret Jane Beaty Buchanan, on 13 Dec 1860 in Washington County.1
24 Jul 1861  Six months after their marriage William enlisted in the Confederate army. He served in Company H of the 37th Virginia Infantry and was wounded several times, returning to Washington County in the Spring of 1863 to recuperate at Emory and Henry College Hospital. In the fall of 1864 he was wounded again but this time he was taken prisoner by Union troops. He spent time in various Union hospitals and prison camps until the end of the war.

William died just 18 months after returning home, leaving Jane with two young children, including an infant son born just 6 weeks earlier.
Cens-188028 Jun 1880  Jane and the children lived for some time with her stepmother, Martha Caldwell, in the Holston District of Washington County. Jane's brother Samuel and his family lived next door.4
Migration  In the early 1880s Samuel and his family migrated west. They spent a year or so in Nebraska where their daughter Elizabeth was born in 1885. By the birth of their son Charles in May, 1887 they had moved on to Kansas.

Jane appears to have accompanied Samuel and his family in the move west, or followed them shortly thereafter. She may have settled first in Washington County, Nebraska where her daughter Margaret married in early 1887. If so she appears to have later moved to Nance County, Nebraska. Both Samuel and Jane may have followed the path of their older brother James and younger half sibling Frank who were both enumerated in Washington Co., Nebraska in 1880.

Burial She was buried at Fullerton Cemetery in Nance County, Nebraska.3
