Marriage12 Apr 1810 James Logan married Elizabeth Vance, daughter of James Vance, on 12 Apr 1810 in Washington County, Virginia.2,1 
Deathbefore 27 Dec 1818 James died before 27 Dec 1818 at which time he was referred to as deceased in his father's will.1 
  The will also left a tract of land known as the Gibson Survey to James's sons James and John when they turned 21. However their mother Elizabeth was allowed the use of the land to support them until that time, provided she remained a widow. After they came of age she could retain the use of 1/3 of the land during her lifetime, again provided she did not remarry. In addition the will left Elizabeth and her children 1/4 of the profits (and losses) of James's mill for a period of 10 years.1 
17 Feb 1829 On 17 Feb 1829 James Vance was appointed guardian of James Logan's 4 children who were all still underage: Elizabeth, Sally, James V. and John B.3
