Marriage Fred McKinley Thompson married Pearl Irene Ritchie, daughter of Madison Monroe Ritchie and Nancy C. Wampler.1 
Cens-193016 Apr 1930  The young couple first lived in the community of Damascus in Washington County, Virginia where they were recorded in April 1930 with their 10 month old daughter Doris. Fred was 22 and Pearl was 16. Fred worked as a farm laborer and the couple rented their home for $5 a month. Boarding with them was 35 year old James Sproles who worked on road construction.2 
Death1961 Fred died in a coal mine accident in 1961 in Mercer County, West Virginia. His son died in the same coal mine 10 years earlier.
