| Legatee | 11 May 1875 | Emett's father wrote his will in May, 1875, about a month before his death. He left Emett and his brother Charlie a horse, saddle and bridle or the value of a medium horse in money. He also left them each a bed and bedding.1 |
| Emett's date of birth is unknown to me at the present. He does not appear with Robert and Rachel in 1850 or 1860 (the 1870 census for Washington County is very spotty and Robert's household appears to have been missed) and I have not been able to locate him in 1880 after Robert's death. However the wording of his father's will suggests that Emett, like Charlie, was one of the younger sons in the family, probably born after the 1860 census enumeration. According to High On A Windy Hill, there is a headstone in Rock Spring Cemetery (where many other members of this Larimer family are buried) for an Emmett Larimer. The stone is reported to provide the following information: "Emmett Larimer, d. 10 Jul 1877, age 85y" Is it possible the age was misread and this is actually a stone for Emett, son of Robert and Rachel? |
