Richard Montgomery purchased what was described as 192 acres from Samuel Lowrey in 1793 (Washington Co. DB 1:310). However later the land was resurveyed and a new grant was issued in 1836 for 270 acres (VA Land Grants 85:703)
The tract was originally granted to Collin Crilley in 1786 (VA Land Grants 3:282). He sold it to Samuel Lowrey in 1788 (WCV DB 1:98).
