I John Buchanan……

- to beloved wife Anna 1/3 of all my lands together with the dwelling house, also 1 horse, bridle and saddle, 4 cows, 10 head of sheep to be hers during her natural life and at her death to descend to my 4 youngest sons, namely William, James, Robert and Ryburne.

- to wife all household furniture at her disposal; “at her death as to my two oldest sons namely, Matthew and John they having been provided for in the purchase of a tract of land from John Shannon except as to my son Matthew I will that he be made equal out of my personal estate to what my son John has heretofore received”.

- to my four youngest sons namely William, James, Robert and Ryburne all my real and personal estate not other wise disposed of, by their paying the following legacies:
     - to my four daughters Peggy, Polly, Anna, and Rosey, $50.00 each at the expiration of 3 years after my decease. Daughter Rosey to be made equal out of my personal estate to what the other daughters already received.
     - to Matty Ryburn Buchanan who now lives with me when she arrives at the age of 18, one horse of $50.00 value, and one saddle and bridle and one cow.

- sons Mathew and John to be executors

exhibited and proved in court 15 March 1825 by oath of Joseph Miller who also made oath that he saw James Henderson, another witness, who is now dead, subscribe his name as a witness. Mathew and John Buchanan took oath as executors; entered bond in sum of $4,000 with Samuel Moore, John McChesney, David Campbell, Beatie Ryburn & James Clark as security.
