William Buchanan of Washington Co. VA:

1. to wife Jane Buchanan: 1/3 lands in Washington Co. during her natural life and all personal property except as follows

2. three sons Benjamin K., Mathew H., James _ [S?]: the plantation known as Spear Place subject to any encumbrance that may be on it

3. son Andrew E.: plantation I now live on provided he lives on it with his mother and takes care of her
- 12 months after his mother’s death I give to his four sisters Margaret, Elizabeth, Sally and Bethia $50 each, but if he does not remain on the land with his mother he is not to have that part of the land known by the 53 ac entry & in that case his mother is to dispose of it as she may think proper

4. son John K.: plantation known as the McCall plantation provided he lives with his mother until he is 21 yrs of age & works for her, but if he leaves before he is 21 then he is only to have 2/3 of the land & his mother is to dispose of the other 1/3
- also a good horse and saddle

5. daughter Sally Kelly: $60 in good trade in 12 months after my death to make her equal with Margaret & Elizabeth

6. daughter Bethia: a good horse saddle & bridle & other stock & household furniture sufficient to make her equal with her 3 other sisters that is married & $100 in good trade at any time she may want it in 12 months after my death

7. two sons Benjamin K. & M.H. Buchanan: 2/3 of my shariffship [sic] by paying their mother $50 each; any claim that either of them may have against my estate is to be settled out of the $50, but the money that they paid James K. Gibson after the death of Charles C. Gibson is not to be paid back to them again & I allow them to pay 2/3 of that money
- I also give Mathew H. Buchanan my surveying instruments

8. son James S [?]: all the interest that I have in the tanyard with John Kelly

9. Andrew E. Buchanan: my smiths tools

10. To my 5 sons & 4 daughters: an equal interest in 5,000 acres of land, also 50 acres known by the name of flat spring, all in thee county of Johnston, state of TN

11. appoint Benjamin K. and Mathew H. Buchanan my executors
