Additional thoughts re the dates and possible headstone for Jane, first wife of Moses Hutton:

There are 2 collections of headstone readings for Old Glade Spring Cemetery where Moses is buried. The book "High On A Windy Hill", for which stones were read in the 1960s, reported the presence of a stone that stated: "Jane Hutton, w/o M. Hutton, d. 5 Feb. 1879, age 99". A reading reported by John Blakemore in the 1950s, for what appears to be the same stone, recorded the data as "Jane Hutton, 1729-1819" and did not include the "wife of" entry although the stone was noted as next to that of Moses Hutton. A family record created by Jane's son, William Dixon Hutton, stated she was born in 1790 and died 6 Jan. 1819. Family members who visited the cemetery in the late 1980s were unable to identify Jane's stone, but did locate a stone that read "In Memory of Moses Hutton". The rest of the stone was unreadable; it was broken and lying on the ground.

It seems likely Jane died following the birth of daughter Eliza Ann on 6 Jan. 1819. Her year of birth may have been entered on her stone as 1789 but misread years later as 1729. She no doubt died at age 29. There are other stones close by that are not readable. Perhaps one of those belongs to Moses's second wife Nancy. It is also possible the stone mentioned above was for Moses's second wife and her name was Nancy Jane although she does not appear as such in any record. The age at death (99) appears to have been misread regardless of who the stone belonged to.
