Patrick Henry Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia to all to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye, that, by virtue of a Certificate in Right of Settlement given by the Commissioners for adjusting the titles to unpatented Lands in the District of Washington and Montgomery and in consideration of the ancient compensation of one pound fifteen shillings sterling paid by John Moffet into the Treasury of this
Commonwealth there is granted by the said commonwealth unto the said John Moffet a certain tract or parcel of land containing 330 acres by survey bearing date the 17th day of June, 1782 and being in the county of Washington on the waters of the north fork of the Holston
in the Rich Valley and bounded as followeth,

Beginning at five white oak saplings in a deep hollow at the foot of a spur of Pine ridge & running thence
S 24 degrees E 108 poles to
a walnut sapling and two hickories on a hill side
N 83 degrees E 308 poles crossing a creek to
three white oaks by an old path
N 5 degrees W 40 poles to
White Walnut and linn in a deep hollow
N 30 degrees West 34 poles to
Two buckeyes in said hollow
N 45 degrees E 10 poles to
a hickory
N 21 degrees west 46 poles to
a large poplar by a branch
N 35 degrees E 40 poles to
a white oak dogwood and black oak
N 24 degrees W 67 poles to
a large white oak and small gum on the top of a spur of Pine ridge
thence along the same
