This website began as a way to share information on the Ryburn family of Washington County, Virginia. But like pebbles rippling on a pond, one family led to another, and then to another.... and with the help of many wonderful cousins and friends the site now includes numerous pioneer families.

Comments or corrections are appreciated... and please consider sharing photos and "facts"... they are the gifts that keep this website growing.

The photo at right was taken in the late 1890s. The Charles A. Clark family is sitting on the porch, including Charles' mother, Mary (Clark) Clark. Charles bought the home a few years earlier from John Breckenridge Clark, whose father Capt. John Clark built the home in the early 1800s. Jim Faris shared this wonderful photo. The home sat on Rt. 11 (the old Stage Rd) but has been gone for close to 100 years. To see a second, more detailed copy of the photo visit the new Clark Homes... page. Jim shared considerable other material; see the Change Log for more details.

I would like to create a page for Ebbing Spring Cemetery. Only 5 stones were legible in 1965 when Mrs. McConnell visited the cemetery for High On A Windy Hill. But many early settlers were buried there. If you have family records that document an ancestor buried at Ebbing Spring please let me know. I would especially love to locate photographs of the cemetery before the stones were destroyed.

Additional new content is itemized in the 2012 Change Log and if you haven't visited "RR" in a while take a look at the 2011 Change Log too.
